Ukraine’s State Tourism Agency starts operating from April 1

The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine will begin to operate in full from April 1, 2020, according to the agency’s chairman Maryana Oleskiv.

"The State Tourism Agency will begin its work on April 1," Oleskiv said in an interview with Travel Hub.

According to her, the exact date of competitions for positions in the agency is still unknown, since applicants will be tested after quarantine.

Oleskiv noted that the development of domestic tourism would be the priority task for the agency after the end of quarantine. In particular, the agency’s global goal is to foster a culture of traveling across Ukraine.

As reported, the national lockdown was introduced in Ukraine until April 3 to counteract the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus infection. In particular, educational establishments and all shops except groceries, pharmacies, gas stations and banks were closed. The operation of subways in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro was suspended. The work of city transport is restricted. The intercity and interregional road, rail and air passenger transportation was stopped. In addition, the foreigners are banned from entering Ukraine and the international passenger services are suspended. The mass events in the country are banned.

On March 25, the Government of Ukraine introduced the emergency situation regime in the entire territory of the country and extended lockdown measures until April 24.
