Kyiv allocates UAH 260 mln to prevent coronavirus spread - Klitschko

Kyiv city has allocated UAH 260 million from the city reserve fund for the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated this at briefing on March 20, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We have allocated 260 million from the Kyiv city budget reserve fund. They are aimed at purchasing the necessary equipment, medicines and personal protective equipment for hospitals in our city,” he said.

According to him, the city will purchase mechanical ventilators, test systems, masks and medical gowns.

The mayor has stressed that not only Ukraine is experiencing a lack of personal protective equipment, other countries are facing the same problem too.

As of the morning of March 20, 26 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Ukraine, including two lethal cases.

On March 12, Ukraine introduced quarantine for three weeks, as well a package of anti-epidemic measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
