Political prisoner Semena already in government-controlled Ukraine

Crimean political prisoner, journalist Mykola Semena is already in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.

"Mykola Semyana, a Crimean journalist who was unlawfully convicted by the occupying power on September 22, 2017, is finally in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. He is safe and heads to Kyiv," Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova posted on Facebook.

As reported, on January 28, Mykola Semena, a journalist of the Radio Liberty project "Crimea.Realities", received documents from a district court in Simferopol confirming that his suspended sentence had been lifted and his criminal record expunged.

On September 22, 2017, Semena was convicted in annexed Crimea for his journalistic activities, received a 2.5-year suspended sentence and was banned for three years from engaging in journalistic activities.
