Ukraine unemployment rate plummets

In 2019, the number of Ukrainians registered as unemployed decreased by 26,100 people: from 364,300 people in January to 338,200 people in December, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reports.

According to the data of the State Employment Service of Ukraine, the highest unemployment rate of 367,000 people nationwide during 2019 was recorded in February, and the lowest – 259,300 people – in October.

The number of women registered as unemployed decreased by 13,600 thousand from 190,900 women in January to 177,300 women in December.

The number of unemployed men decreased by 12,500 thousand from 173,400 men in January to 160,900 men in December.

The number of unemployed people living in towns and cities decreased over the past year by 12,500 people – from 188,500 people in January to 176,000 people in December 2019.

The number of unemployed rural population also fell by 13,600 thousand last year – from 175,800 people in January to 162,200 people in December.
