Anti-corruption court obliges NABU to open proceedings against ex-SBU chief

Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court (HACU) has obliged the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) to launch criminal proceedings against former Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak, NABU spokesperson Svitlana Olefira has told Ukrinform.

"There was a ruling by the High Anti-Corruption Court, according to which [respective] information was included in the single register of pretrial investigations," she said.

At the same time, Olefira declined to state the qualification of the crime under which criminal proceedings were opened, citing the secrecy of the investigation.

At the same time, HACU told Ukrinform that the court had obliged NABU to open the case under Article 28 (a crime committed by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization), Article 364 (abuse of power or office), Article 365 (excess of power or office), Article 366 (official forgery), Article 191 (misappropriation or embezzlement of property through abuse of office), Article 111 (high treason), and Article 114 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
