The Telegraph starts spelling ‘Kyiv’ correctly

The Telegraph starts to use correct spelling “Kyiv” to denote the capital of Ukraine in English.

“It's official! The Telegraph has just informed us that it has decided to restyle the spelling of the name of the capital of Ukraine: from now on it will use Kyiv, not "Kiev". Fantastic news!” the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom posted on Twitter.

As reported, the #CorrectUA information campaign initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine started in October 2018.

The Foreign Ministry urges foreign official institutions and commercial companies to abandon obsolete spelling of Ukrainian cities that was derived from Russian, switching to correct spelling: Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia. Flash mob #KyivNotKiev was launched within the framework of the campaign.

The Washington Post and BBC have recently announced they start to use spelling “Kyiv” instead of “Kiev”.
