A three-day festival of Ukrainian culture was held in Ottawa.

As an Ukrinform correspondent reports, the Ottawa’s Capital Ukrainian Festival marks its fifth anniversary this year.

Several hundred performers from all over Canada and other countries gathered in the capital to take part in the festival. Headliners of the first two days were Vasyl Popadiuk with his Papa Duke Band and Mad Heads CA.

The guests of the festival could enjoy Ukrainian songs and dances, chose gifts from numerous souvenirs, taste the national cuisine, tried their hand at ancient crafts, including embroidery, beadwork and pysanka (Easter egg) painting.

As in previous years, the festival was held on the territory of the Greek Catholic Ukrainian Church of Ottawa.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Andriy Shevchenko represented official Kyiv at the opening ceremony while Canada's Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna spoke on behalf of official Ottawa. The members of the provincial parliament, the members of the Government of Ontario, and representatives of the Ottawa City Council were also present.
