Ukrainian peacekeepers participate in many successful international missions – Groysman

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has congratulated Ukrainian peacekeepers on their professional holiday, which is marked today, July 15.

The greeting text has been posted on the Government portal.

"Since gaining independence in 1991, Ukraine has been actively involved in the international peacekeeping operations, with dozens of successful peacekeeping missions on the list of Ukrainian peacekeepers, providing peace in the world's most dangerous places. That’s why our peacekeepers are highly respected in the dangerous places in many countries around the world," Groysman wrote.

He added that peacekeeping activity is one of the most honored missions, which requires high professionalism and extraordinary courage.

"Our peacekeepers, who have gained experience in direct combat operations in the Joint Forces Operation area, are becoming virtually indispensable specialists for peacekeeping contingents by the United Nations, NATO and other international organizations," added Groysman.

He also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian peacekeepers for risking their lives in order to secure peace in the most dangerous places of the world.

As reported, the Day of Ukrainian Peacekeepers is marked on July 15. The holiday was designated by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on May 21, 2013. On that day, in 1992, a mission was launched in Bosnia with the participation of Ukrainian troops. Since then, Ukraine has been taking part in peacekeeping and security operations held under the auspices of the UN, the OSCE, NATO and the EU in world’s hot spots.
