Ukraine’s National Union of Journalists condemns TV link-up with Russia 24

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine condemns the possible holding of a TV link-up with Russian state-owned channel Russia 24.

Chairman of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) Serhiy Tomilenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“Our position is definite – ‘the Russian media are directly responsible for inciting hostility and spreading information propaganda aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine’ (quoted from the statement made by the NUJU Board on April 2018). We are ready to protect the broad rights of Ukrainian journalists and Ukrainian media, while direct cooperation with the Russian propaganda TV channel is outrageous,” Tomilenko wrote.

He urged the leadership of Ukraine's television channel NewsOne to comply with Ukraine’s current legislation and media regulation norms banning Russian television channels from broadcasting in Ukraine

As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine's television channel NewsOne, which belongs to Taras Kozak, an ally of Viktor Medvedchuk, and Russian state-owned channel Russia 24, are to hold a TV link-up entitled "Need to Talk." TV host Dmitry Kiselyov announced this during the Vesti Nedeli (News of the Week) program.
