Ukrinform joins Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership

National News Agency Ukrinform joined the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) that was established in Beijing on Thursday.

Deputy Director General of Ukrinform Oksana Noskova took part in the inauguration meeting of the partnership, own Ukrinform correspondent reported.

During the meeting, the partnership agreement was approved, which was initiated by China’s Xinhua News Agency, for sharing economic information among countries participating in the initiative.

Cai Mingzhao, president of Xinhua News Agency, emphasized that BREIP envisages the creation of a contact office and a platform for sharing economic information among partner countries.

According to the charter, each member of the partnership is required to post on the platform 5-10 news reports that potentially may be of interest to investors. One of the purposes is to help countries find investment and trading opportunities.

BREIP co-founders also stressed the importance of providing objective and reliable economic information and preventing the spread of "fake news". Members of BREIP partnership may use the information provided by other members to post on their resources for free.

In addition, according to the charter, Xinhua provides core resources and manages the creation of the platform and its maintenance.

Xinhua, the largest media organization in China established on November 7, 1931, has offices in 105 countries.
