‘Security. Women. Peace’ platform presented in Kyiv

The platform "Security. Women. Peace" has been launched in Ukraine to actively engage women in peacemaking processes.

"Today, we want to present the platform ‘Security. Women. Peace’ that fully echoes the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security and demonstrates that it is very important for women in Ukraine not only to be actively engaged in political processes and parliamentary campaign but also to have a direct impact on peacekeeping processes in the country and security and defense sector," First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko said during a press conference at the Ukrinform news agency.

Gerashchenko assured that the platform is not a partisan formation and will call on non-governmental organizations and women's veteran movements to join.

In turn, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze recalled that many effective efforts have been made over the past five years.

"With the strengthening of the role and the opinion of women, the number of women in the security and defense sector, in particular, we can expect our peacekeeping efforts to be much more successful in the future," she added.

At the same time, the Minister of Ukraine for Veterans Affairs Iryna Friz noted that the involvement of women in peace processes demonstrates their effectiveness and efficiency.
