Latvia sends 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid to occupied Donbas

Latvia sent more than 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, according to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.

“A delegation of the Republic of Latvia, led by Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine Mr. Juris Poikāns, sent more than 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the civilian population living along the line of demarcation,” reads the report.

Ukrainian Joint Forces Commander Lieutenant-General Oleksandr Syrsky noted that Latvia was one of the first European countries, which began to assist the regions that suffered as a result of the hostilities.

In addition, the Latvian ambassador assured that international projects on the rehabilitation of children living near the line of demarcation and other humanitarian activities would continue in 2019.
