Economic Development Ministry wants to update occupational classification

The Economic Development and Trade Ministry intends to update the national occupational classification, which will improve the compliance of education with labor market demands.

The ministry’s press service wrote this on its Facebook page.

"The Economic Development Ministry together with other authorities has initiated the reform of the national occupational classification. It will allow us to reconcile education and labor market, to improve the compliance of education and the position held, because the vocational education system trains specialists for almost 480 professions, the higher education system – for about 400 specialties,” the ministry’s press service cited First Deputy Prime Minister -  Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv as saying.

According to Kubiv, such a reform will help to more accurately track the real employment rate and project staffing requirements, government orders, unemployment rates depending on age, education, and the economy sector.
