Embassies of foreign countries congratulate Ukrainians on Vyshyvanka Day

The embassies of foreign countries have congratulated Ukraine on Vyshyvanka Day, the day of the traditional embroidered shirt.

In particular, greetings came from employees of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine. The embassy posted photos of its employees in embroidered shirts on Twitter. "Happy Vyshyvanka Day from the Embassy of Switzerland, including [dog] Tara!" the embassy tweeted.

The Embassy of Israel in Ukraine also greeted Ukrainians on Vyshyvanka Day, having posted a video of embassy staff dressed in vyshyvankas on Twitter. "The Embassy of Israel congratulates all Ukrainians on Vyshyvanka Day," the greeting reads.

Similar videos were also posted by employees of the Canadian Embassy in its microblog, as well as the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

In addition, Vyshyvanka Day has traditionally been celebrated in Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad. In particular, photos in vyshyvankas were posted on Twitter by the Embassy of Ukraine in Senegal, the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, the Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria, the Embassy of Ukraine in the UK, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey.

On Vyshyvanka Day, employees of the Embassy of Ukraine in Kazakhstan also rolled out a 30-meter-long embroidered towel made by masters from Pereyaslav. A respective photo was posted on Twitter.

On the third Thursday of May, Ukrainians traditionally celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. This day is not official, but it is celebrated not only in Ukraine but also abroad.
