Kyiv court judge files lawsuit against Poroshenko

A judge of Kyiv's District Administrative Court has filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the court's press service has reported.

"A judge of Kyiv's District Administrative Court has filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on recognizing the inactivity of the head of state, the obligation to issue a decree appointing a judge to office and recovering pecuniary damage," the report reads.

It notes that the case will be heard by the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court.

The court says that the plaintiff substantiated his position by the fact that Ukraine's president during February-March 2019, contrary to the requirements of the law of Ukraine "On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges," did not issue a decree on his appointment as a judge, which deprives him of his right to work and additional pay for service record.
