Experts say situation in Ukraine improved under Groysman-led government

The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian experts (85.5%) surveyed by the Situations Modeling Agency believe that the situation in Ukraine improved over the past three years of activity of the government led by Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

Director of the Situations Modeling Agency Vitaliy Bala said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"In fact, 85.5% of experts believe that the situation in the country has changed for the better. We compared the situation with 2015, when there was a sufficiently crisis situation and opponents spoke a lot of negative things about the Groysman-led government. I myself am not a supporter. [....] But one way or another, we now say that the situation is improving, and this gives me reasons to be a cautious optimist," Bala said.

According to Oleksiy Holobutsky, deputy director of the Situations Modeling Agency, most experts noted that the foreign economic situation had changed for the better.

"Some 75.5% believe that the situation has changed for the better, 3.7% think it has rather changed for the worse, and 11.1% think it has practically not changed," he said.

Holobutsky noted that experts think the biggest obstacles to the government's activity are the war with Russia, the activity of populist politicians in parliament, and the institutional weakness of government institutions.

Experts estimated the role of the government in bringing Ukraine out of crisis at 7.6 on a ten-point scale and that of the prime minister at 7.4. Experts said the government's positive achievements included the growth of the minimum wage, the monetization of subsidies and the modernization of pensions with the introduction of automatic indexation. The most significant achievements are decentralization, state security and defense, road infrastructure, and support for the agricultural sector.

The survey was conducted by the Situations Modeling Agency on 3-5 April by questioning 30 experts.
