Royal Canadian Mint releases pure gold Ukrainian Easter egg coin

The Royal Canadian Mint has released a pure gold coin in the shape of Ukrainian Easter egg (pysanka).

This coin is the fifth “Easter egg” in the collection of the Canadian Mint, but it is completely made of gold for the first time.

“Designed by artist Dave Melnychuk, pysanka-themed design is an eternal blessing for all Canadians, represented by a wooden temple that is a welcoming symbol of community. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt,” reads the statement on the Mint’s website.

The coin is made of 58.5 grams of 99.99% pure gold and has a face value of 250 Canadian dollars, but its redemption price is $5,000. The coin also has a significantly smaller mintage compared to its silver predecessors as only 250 golden pysanka-shaped coins will be released.
