Number of inclusive schools grew by 42% - Maryna Poroshenko

The number of inclusive schools in Ukraine has grown by 42% and the number of pupils attending them has grown by 51%, according to President’s wife Maryna Poroshenko.

She stated this during the training on the integrated assessment of children’s needs in institutional care establishments and families, which was held in the city of Zhytomyr, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The reform of inclusive education in Ukraine is comprehensive and it has support. Impressive results have been achieved thanks to the team of like-minded people, which has been formed over the past years. Only over the last year, the number of inclusive schools has increased by 42% and the number of children with special educational needs attending such schools has grown by 51%," the first lady said.

Maryna Poroshenko also added that 550 inclusive resource centers currently operate in Ukraine, where modern psychological and pedagogical services are provided to children with special educational needs.
