Ukraine, Slovenia to combat human trafficking together

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Slovenia Mykhailo Brodovych and Interior Minister of Slovenia Boštjan Poklukar discussed cooperation in the fight against human trafficking.

The press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia reported this on the results of a meeting of the ambassador with Slovenian officials.

"The meeting was dedicated to strengthening interaction and establishing direct contacts between the agencies of both countries, authorized to perform functions in the field of combating human trafficking. The parties expressed their readiness to cooperate in this direction, and also discussed the issues of attracting Ukrainian representatives to international events in the field of combating trafficking in human beings to be held in Slovenia," the report says.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the issue of developing a draft implementation protocol between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia of the agreement between Ukraine and the European Community on readmission of persons.

The ambassador also informed about the internal political situation in Ukraine, preparation for the next presidential election and asked for support in order to properly organize the voting process in Slovenia.

The Slovenian side outlined the main challenges related to the migration situation in Slovenia, informed about the results achieved in this area and positively assessed the effect of a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU.
