Musk: Ukraine played a major role in Russian space industry

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has admitted that Ukraine played a major role in the formation of the Russian space industry, which started back in the Soviet period.

He wrote this on his Twitter account, responding to a comment from one user.

"Ukraine did play a major role [in the Russian space industry]," Musk wrote.

Prior to that, the SpaceX founder tweeted that "Russia has excellent rocket engineering & best engine currently flying" and that "reusable version of their new Angara rocket would be great."

One user replied that most of the "Russian engineering" originates from the Soviet Union and has Ukrainian roots and that during all 28 years of its existence Russia has not made any space revolution and is still using old Soviet legacy.

Musk, in turn, acknowledged Ukraine's role in this issue.
