Ukraine, Latvia develop cooperation in information sector

State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko paid a working visit to Latvia.

“During a visit, Bidenko met with Vice Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla. The sides discussed the issue of ensuring the information needs of the Ukrainian community in Latvia,” the Ministry’s press service reported.

At the meeting with MP Inese Voika, the parties noted effective cooperation of both countries in the OSCE, in particular, regarding the support of resolutions on Ukraine, as well as the issues of ensuring balanced information campaigns during national elections.

Artem Bidenko also met with the director of Baltic Centre for Media Excellence, Jānis Siksnis, to discuss the implementation of joint training projects for Baltic and Ukrainian journalists.

In addition, Bidenko took part in the discussion “The role of writers in the fight against propaganda and for freedom of speech in the post-truth era”. He spoke about the activities of the Information Policy Ministry in the field of countering Russian propaganda in the occupied territories and countering Russian information operations in Ukraine.
