Qatar National Library presented with Ukrainian books
The Qatar National Library (QNL) has been enriched with books and materials about Ukraine, including collections of poems by Lesya Ukrainka and Taras Shevchenko in Arabic, historical documents and photo chronicles.
"In the light of the 148th anniversary of the birth of Ukraine’s prominent writer and public activist Lesya Ukrainka as well as ahead of the celebrations dedicated to the 205th anniversary of the birth of greatest Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, the ambassador donated to the Qatar National Library a collection of poems by Lesya Ukrainka and a book of selected works by Taras Shevchenko, translated into Arabic language. The ambassador also handed over a collection of documents and photo chronicle (in English), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian National Revolution," the Ukrainian Embassy in Qatar reported.
The QNL top management expressed gratitude for such a donation that enriched the Library’s collection and assured that these books and materials will become available for the QNL members in upcoming days.
On March 3, 2019, Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Qatar Yevhen Mykytenko held a meeting with Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar National Library Dr. Stuart Hamilton and Chief Librarian of QNL Mr.Patrice Landry.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the ways of developing cooperation between the Qatar National Library and Ukrainian national libraries.
