Every third pharmacy in Ukraine participates in Affordable Medicines program – Health Ministry

Every third pharmacy in Ukraine participates in the National Affordable Medicines Reimbursement Program.

Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Kovtoniuk stated this at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We have managed to significantly improve and expand the Affordable Medicines program over the past two years. In particular, the number of drugs included in the program grew by more than 60% by April 2017, and the number of those drugs that can be received for free grew by 1.5 times. This program is popular among people - 33 million recipes for the amount of UAH 1.7 billion have been issued under this program,” Kovtoniuk said.

According to him, the Affordable Medicines program involves almost 6,000 pharmacies throughout the country.

"Today, every third country pharmacy - almost 6,000 - participates in the program. This shows the demand for the program among people and confidence of businesses in the government, because we are working with pharmacies legally,” Kovtoniuk said.
