President to present tomos of autocephaly in Zhytomyr on Jan. 17

On Thursday, January 17, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will take part in a liturgy at St. Michael's Cathedral in Zhytomyr.

"On January 17 at 12:00, a prayer service for Ukraine with the participation of President Petro Poroshenko will be held at St. Michael's Cathedral in Zhytomyr," reads a report on the cathedral’s Facebook page.

During the liturgy, the Patriarchal and Synodal Tomos of Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be presented to the public.

As reported, on January 5, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed the tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

On January 6, 2019, the ceremony to hand over a tomos of autocephaly to the united Orthodox Church of Ukraine took place at the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew gave the document to Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphaniy.
