Ukrainian border guards detain two foreigners wanted by Interpol

Ukrainian border guards have exposed citizens of Georgia and Moldova who are wanted by law enforcement agencies of other countries, Ukraine's State Border Guard Service reported on January 13.

"Yesterday, at the Kyiv airport and on the border with Moldova, employees of the State Border Guard Service exposed another group of persons who were searched for by law enforcement agencies of other countries," the statement reads.

"In particular, a citizen of Georgia was stopped at Boryspil Airport, when he arrived in Ukraine. Interpol's database worked for him during border control. It turned out that law enforcement agencies of Germany are searching for the foreigner," the State Border Guard Service said.

Another foreigner was detained by border guards of the Chernivtsi detachment at the Mamalyha checkpoint at the entrance to Ukraine. Border guards found out that a citizen of Moldova is wanted in Italy.

The Ukrainian Interpol Bureau in Kyiv was notified of these facts, and the detainees were transferred to the National Police.
