State Border Guard Service names most popular destinations of Ukrainians in 2018

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has released preliminary statistics on state border crossing in 2018.

The top 5 destinations of Ukrainians in 2018 were Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Belarus, according to the agency's website.

"Statistics show that among most popular countries that Ukrainians have visited in the current year, as well as last year, are Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Belarus, Slovakia, Egypt (an increase by 350,000 people) and Turkey," reads the statement.

At the same time, according to the State Border Guard Service, there is a demand and increase in trips to Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece and Denmark, Austria, Cyprus, Latvia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Switzerland. The number of trips to the United States and Israel remain at the same level as in 2017.

Head of the State Border Guard Service, Petro Tsygykal, has recently reported about a steady increase in traffic volumes - 4% on average. At the same time, 71% of those who crossed the state border were citizens of Ukraine (66.4 million people) and 29%.were foreigner citizens.

Petro Tsygykal also noted that the number of Ukrainians traveling abroad grew by 6% compared to 2017. "In particular, there was an increase of the number of Ukrainians travelling to Slovakia (by 22%) and Romania (by 17%), as well as those travelling by air (in general, 10.7 million people, the demand for air travel grew by 29%)," reads the report.
