Forty-two prisoners transferred from occupied Donbas

Forty-two people, who were convicted before 2014, have been transferred from the occupied Luhansk to serve their sentences in the territories controlled by Ukraine.

“Today, as part of the agreements previously reached in the humanitarian subgroup in

Minsk [Trilateral Contact Group], the convicts, who were sentenced before the outbreak of the 2014 war and bear no relation to the conflict, have arrived. Forty-two people from occupied Luhansk have been transferred to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. They want and will serve their sentences in Ukrainian prisons," First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko posted on Facebook.

She noted that the Ukrainian side once again told the representatives of the temporarily occupied territories that it was ready to release the captives – both military and civilian - and suggested releasing them in the format of 66 for 19 on December 27.
