Rally against Russian aggression in Ukraine held in Canadian city of Edmonton

A rally against Russian aggression in Ukraine was held in the capital of Canadian province of Alberta, the city of Edmonton.

“The Consulate General of Ukraine in Edmonton together with Ukrainian community of Edmonton and Alberta took part in a rally near the Legislative Assembly of Alberta called ‘Canada can help stop Russian aggression’,” the Consulate General of Ukraine in Edmonton posted on Facebook.

The rally participants demanded that the world community and Canada increase pressure on Russia and strengthen support for Ukraine.

“In their speeches, the participants praised the significant assistance that Canada provides to Ukraine in these difficult times and called on the governments of Alberta and Canada to continue the necessary efforts to support Ukraine in its opposition to the Russian aggression, to increase pressure on the Russian Federation to make it stop the war against Ukraine, release the Ukrainian prisoners of war and political prisoners and withdraw from the occupied Ukrainian territories,” the statement reads.

About fifty people joined the rally on Saturday.

As a reminder, about 10% of the residents of Alberta are of Ukrainian descent.
