Over 2.6 mln people with disabilities live in Ukraine

President Petro Poroshenko has said that 2.630 million people with disabilities live in Ukraine.

He stated this at the All-Ukrainian meeting dedicated to the issue of proper environment for persons with disabilities, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“I want to remind everyone – it’s not about a thousand or tens of thousands of people. It’s about 2.630 million of our fellow citizens,” Poroshenko noted.

According to him, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a very good opportunity for both the authorities and local governments, for public organizations and for all citizens to assess what has been done in the sphere of protection of people with disabilities.

At the same time, Poroshenko stressed that the All-Ukrainian Assembly of People with Disabilities and its head Valery Sushkevych at all international platforms draw attention to such a grave consequence of Russian aggression as a violation of the rights of persons with disabilities.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was marked on December 3.
