Healthcare reform: Almost 20 mln Ukrainians already chosen family doctors

Almost 20 million Ukrainians have already signed declarations with primary care physicians as part of the Healthcare reform, according to Deputy Health Minister Pavlo Kovtoniuk.

"Healthcare reform has become a reality for people in Ukraine. Almost 20 million Ukrainians – one in two people - have chosen a doctor whom he or she trusts, but not just on the basis of the address of registration or place of living,” he said at a press conference held at Ukrinform.

He also emphasized that private health institutions are also involved in the reform.

"Today, every tenth institution that has an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine is a private clinic or an individual entrepreneur. In big cities, people start to choose private doctors, receive medical services in private hospitals and do not pay for this," said Kovtoniuk.
