Texas and Minnesota recognize Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of Ukrainian people

The U.S. states Texas and Minnesota issued the proclamations of commemoration of victims of Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine and recognition of this tragedy as the genocide of Ukrainian people.

As the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States reports, Mayor of Austin, Texas, the Honorable Steve Adler, issued a proclamation declaring November 10, 2018 as Holodomor Remembrance Day.

The proclamation states: “This year marks the 85th anniversary of the little known man-made genocide catastrophe of the 20th century known as the Holodomor in Ukraine.”

The governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton issued a proclamation declaring October 28, 2018 as Ukrainian Famine Memorial Day.

“Between 1932-1933, seven to ten million residents of Ukraine perished as a result of genocide famine, artificially created by the country’s Stalinist Soviet government,” reads the proclamation.
