First monument to Taras Shevchenko unveiled in Yerevan

The first monument to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in Armenia was unveiled in Yerevan on October 13.

"On October 13, 2018, the first monument to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in Armenia was unveiled in Yerevan," the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia reports.

The solemn ceremony was attended by State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Zayats, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Armenia Petro Lytvyn, member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan, Ukrainian diplomats and their family members, representatives of the Ukrainian community in Armenia and activists of the Armenian diaspora in Ukraine, officials of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration of Ukraine, professors and students of the Yerevan Scientific-Educational Institute of the Ternopil National Economic University, intellectuals, Armenian media representatives and others.

The guests laid flowers to the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
