Spain, Ireland, Hungary, Romania join international action to commemorate Holodomor victims. Photos

The memorial events within the framework of the international action “Light a candle of remembrance”, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine, were held in Spain, Ireland, Hungary and Romania.

As the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain reports, the victims of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-33 in Ukraine were commemorated in the Ukrainian Orthodox and Greek Catholic parishes of Madrid and other cities of Spain on October 7.

Local Ukrainian community together with the employees of the Consulate of Ukraine in Barcelona also held the action “Light a candle of remembrance” in the city of Alicante (Valencia).

According to the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Ireland, the Ukrainian community, the staff of the Embassy, the members of the Association of Ukrainians and the Ukrainian Church in Ireland commemorated the Holodomor victims on October 7.

As the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary reports, the same day Ukrainians of Hungary joined a number of memorial events within the framework of the international action “Light a candle of remembrance.” The participants attended the Divine Liturgy at the St. Michael Church and walked along the streets of Budapest with the posters reading "Ukraine remembers - the world recognizes", "Genocide of Ukrainian people of 1932-33" in Ukrainian and Hungarian up to the monument to the Holodomor victims of 1932-33 in Ukraine.

According to the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania, the exhibition "Executed by Hunger: Unknown Genocide of Ukrainians" and the photo exhibition "Hunger Symphony" by Ukrainian photographer Kseniya Piliavska opened at the Bucharest Municipal Museum on October 5.

The members of the Union of the Ukrainians of Romania along with representatives of the Embassy honored the memory of the Holodomor victims by observing a minute's silence.
