First-graders this year to go to ‘New Ukrainian School’– Poroshenko

More than 448,000 first-graders will be taught under the New Ukrainian School program from September 1, 2018.

President Petro Poroshenko stated this at the All-Ukrainian August conference dedicated to the launch of the New Ukrainian School, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The New Ukrainian School program begins with the youngest, the first-graders, and will grow step by step with them. On September 1, all pupils of the 22,000 first grades in Ukraine, namely 448,000 schoolchildren, will begin education under the new state standard,” he said.

Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine had been waiting for a new educational reform for more than a quarter of a century, since the world is developing rapidly and dynamically, and Ukraine is behind the leading countries in the educational environment.

According to the President, such a reform is the New Ukrainian School. The Head of State also added he is convinced that the education reform in Ukraine should be aimed at creativity and innovation.
