Ukrainians crossed border with EU countries over 21 mln times since visa-free travel launch

Ukrainians have crossed the state border with the EU countries more than 21 million times since June 11, 2017, when the visa-free regime with the EU entered into force, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.

“The analysis of the traffic of Ukrainians to the EU countries shows that the visa-free regime opened new opportunities for Ukrainians and contributed to an increase in the number of trips to the EU. Thus, in the period since the visa-free regime was launched until the end of June 2018, Ukrainians have crossed the state border with the EU countries more than 21 million times, which 12% more compared to the same period last year,” reads the report.

In June 2018, Ukrainians made 221,000 trips to the EU without visas, which is 2.3 times more than in the first 30 days of the visa-free regime, when the figure was almost 96,000. The number of Ukrainians that take an advantage of the visa-free regime ranges from 9,000 to 12,000 people a day on average.
