Russia has evicted illegally from Crimea at least 2,425 people

At least 2,425 people have been evicted illegally from Crimea. In addition, 4,700 imprisoned Ukrainian citizens have been moved from Crimea to the territory of the Russian Federation.

Roman Martynovsky, the lawyer, expert of the NGO "Regional Center for Human Rights", said this while speaking at the side event on the situation in Crimea in Strasbourg on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"July 2014 - May 2018, the Crimean courts delivered over 9,500 judgments in the cases over the violation of migration rules. The first cases of expulsion took place in July 2014. To date, we have identified 2,425 people who were expelled from the territory of Crimea," the human rights activist said.

Another "method of cleansing the territory of Crimea" concerns the movement, deportation of imprisoned Ukrainian citizens from the territory of Crimea to the territory of the Russian Federation, allegedly for serving their sentence. "After they are released, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation will recognize almost all of them as the persons whose stay is undesirable in the territory of the Russian Federation. They will be subject to deportation and will be prohibited from entering Russia and Crimea for 5, 10 years," the lawyer said.

According to him, the number of such citizens is at least 4,700 people.
