EU ready to give money for reforms of vocational schools – education minister

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has developed a concept for reforming the vocational technical education, under which the European Union is ready to give money.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevych said this at the panel discussion "Quality vocational education as a key to success of regional development" during the third Local Development Forum in Truskavets, Lviv region, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We have developed a concept for reforming the vocational technical education, under which the European Union is ready to allocate funds," Hrynevych said.

She clarified that the EU is ready to give money to improve infrastructure, which is very important when the equipment has worn out by 60-100%.

"This was our basic demand. This will be the EU infrastructure project, which will provide an opportunity to build about 20 training centers. Half of money is a grant, and another half is a loan from the European Investment Bank, which will be repaid by the Government of Ukraine, and, perhaps, they will set a condition for regional administrations acquiring this property and these centers to pay back the loan," the minister said.
