Ukrainian delegation to participate in OPCW special session

Delegation of Ukraine, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bonbar, will participate in a special session of the Conference of the States Parties (CSP) to the Chemical Weapons Convention, which will be held in The Hague on June 26-28.

This is reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

"The goal of the event is to consider the cases of chemical weapons use in Syria, Iraq, Malaysia and the United Kingdom and to find mechanisms to prevent such cases in the future," reads the report.

The ministry also noted that Ukraine’s participation in the event corresponds to the state position on preventing the use of chemical weapons and bringing the perpetrators to responsibility, as well as on the activities of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in general.

"Ukraine consistently defends the position on the importance of complete and irreversible chemical disarmament under effective international control and considers the Chemical Weapons Convention as an effective instrument in this field," the Foreign Ministry stressed.
