OSCE slams false information about Babchenko's 'murder'

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has condemned the decision by Ukrainian law enforcers to spread false information about the murder of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko in Kyiv.

OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Desir wrote this on Twitter.

"Relieved that Arkady Babchenko is alive! I deplore the decision to spread false information on the life of a journalist. It is the duty of the state to provide correct information to the public," Desir said.

On Wednesday, May 30, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak stated that the Russian special services had ordered the murder of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko in Kyiv.

Subsequently it turned out that the staging of the journalist's murder was a special operation conducted by the SBU. According to Hrytsak, the perpetrator of Babchenko's attempted murder was detained.
