UWC condemns terrorist attacks by Russian occupying forces against residential areas of Donbas

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) strongly condemns the deliberate terrorist attacks committed by the occupying forces of the Russian Federation against civilians in residential areas of Donbas.

The UWC statement was published on the organization's website.

“The Ukrainian World Congress appeals to the international community, including human rights and humanitarian organizations, to increase pressure on the Russian Federation for it to cease violating the Minsk agreements and to support the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission to the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine to secure the safety of innocent civilians,” UWC President Eugene Czolij stated.

The heavy artillery being used by the occupying forces blatantly contravenes the Minsk agreements and shows total disdain for human life.

The report contains the examples that became the reason for making the statement: During the night of May 17, 2018, residential areas in the village of Troitske, Luhansk region, were targeted by artillery fire, and as a result two civilians were killed. Earlier that same day, Russian Federation forces shelled the core of the city of Svitlodarsk, Donetsk region, damaging several residential buildings and the territory of a school with 387 children and 46 staff members in the building.
