On May 8, the representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Brussels together with their colleagues from some European Union and NATO member states have commemorated the victims of the World War II.

The traditional ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers took place at the Brussels Cemetery, a Brussels-based Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We won that war, so we will win this time as well," said Mykola Tochytsky, the Representative of Ukraine to the European Union.

In turn, Vadym Prystaiko, Head of the Ukraine's Mission to NATO, noted that the victory of Ukraine in the war unleashed by Russia should be followed by the establishment of a tradition for the foreign diplomats in Ukraine to commemorate those fallen for the independence and territorial integrity of the country.

After the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine in 2014, the Ukrainian diplomats along with the representatives of some other EU and NATO member states do not take part in the events traditionally organized by the embassy of the aggressor country in Brussels on May 9.
