Ukrainian Institute of America celebrates 70th anniversary

The Ukrainian Institute of America in New York has celebrated the 70th anniversary of its activities.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in New York reported this on its Facebook page.

"On April 28, at the premises of the Ukrainian Institute of America (UIA), the 70th anniversary celebration of the institution was held. The Consulate General of Ukraine in New York at the invitation of the organizers joined the preparation and participation in the event," the statement reads.

Representatives of the U.S. business, scientific and artistic sectors, mostly of Ukrainian descent, representatives of the New York diplomatic missions, and other numerous invited guests came to the Ukrainian cultural establishment.

During the event, President of the Ukrainian Institute of America Daniel G. Swistel read out the greetings received on the eve of the celebrations from the wife of the President of Ukraine, Maryna Poroshenko, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, as well as Mayor of New York Bill de Blasio. In addition, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States also congratulated the Ukrainian Institute of America on its anniversary.
