Germany allocates EUR 9 mln for construction of housing for internally displaced persons from Donbas

Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva, Head of the Infrastructure Division of the German KfW Development Bank Marion Kneesch and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund Andriy Laktionov have signed a financial and project agreement according to which the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the KfW Bank provides Ukraine with EUR 9 million for the construction of social housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The agreement was signed on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We expect that the housing will be built for about 1,000 IDPs at the expense of these funds, and almost 20 projects in schools and kindergartens will be implemented," German Ambassador to Ukraine Ernst Reichel said.

According to him, the funds will be spent on the housing construction in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva states that Ukraine highly appreciates the assistance from the German Government.
