Rozenko outlines main condition for introducing new pension programs

The government will implement new programs on raising pensions in 2018, if a positive trend towards an increase of revenues to the Pension Fund remains.

Vice Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko told this to journalists before the government’s meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“To do this, we need a resource, as soon as we get additional resources in the Pension Fund of Ukraine, we will certainly implement new pension programs, including a rise in pensions for those who had a long record of service and a small salary," Rozenko said.

According to the vice prime minister, first of all, the funds will be directed to the recalculation of pensions for military retirees. For this purpose, about UAH 8 billion is needed additionally until the end of the current year, Rozenko added.

As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers in February approved a decision to raise pensions from January 1 for servicepersons by UAH 1,500 on average.
