Groysman promises significant improvement in road safety in 2018

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has stated that roads in Ukraine this year will become better and safer.

"This year Ukrainians will feel that the roads are becoming not only better, but also safer. We have discussed this today [April 10] at the first meeting of the Coordinating Council for Traffic Safety. We created it in February and now we are setting the task to submit to the government a comprehensive state program, which will be based on the main idea - the reduction in road traffic injuries,” Groysman wrote on his Facebook page.

He also stressed that this year the government allocates UAH 47 billion for road construction and repairs and UAH 2.6 billion –for traffic safety measures

“The announced program will envisage the requirements for speed limit, tools to fix violations of traffic safety rules and powers of patrol officers. We will also enforce compliance with the new regulations for road construction under the program "500-500-1000," which provides for the construction of traffic circles, island sites and crosswalks,” Groysman stressed.
