Exhibition dedicated to Easter eggs opens in Kharkiv

An ethnographic exhibition "Secrets of Slobozhanshchyna Easter Eggs," which opened at Kharkiv Historical Museum, has revealed to visitors a fascinating world of encoded signs of Easter eggs.

A comment to an Ukrinform correspondent during the opening of the exhibition was given by the head of the department of ethnography at the museum, Olena Pantelei.

"The pearl of the exhibition is fifty Easter eggs. They are part of the collection of a fellow countryman, an outstanding ethnographer, founder and first director of the museum, Mykola Sumtsov. The collection is kept in the museum and is almost not taken outside, because, unfortunately, pysankas lose their original appearance, and there are no modern techniques to restore them. So now the visitors can see their exact copies performed by members of the Kharkiv City Club of Easter Eggs, which was created 25 years ago on the initiative of Kharkiv resident Alla Ovcharenko," Pantelei said.
