Ukrainian documentary about Donbas released in the United States. Video
Ukrainian full length documentary “Breaking Point: The War for Democracy in Ukraine”, directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Oles Sanin and two-time Oscar winner Mark Jonathan Harris, has been released in the United States.
As Pronto Film company, which deals with the film marketing and distribution, told Ukrinform, the documentary about the events in eastern Ukraine has already received positive reviews in the leading American media.
The New York Times writes about “nerve-racking scenes” and “Ukraine’s extraordinarily bold volunteer soldiers.”
Other media outlets highlight the relevance of the Ukrainian experience for America after Trump’s victory in presidential race and Russian influence on the information space.
As The Village Voice notes, "the film ... offers haunting, close-up documentation of a fight for democracy that just a year ago may not have had quite the same salience for an American audience that it does today, as we reckon with agitprop and lies from the Kremlin and our own Kremlin-affiliated politicos."
The Hollywood Reporter urges U.S. President to watch the Ukrainian documentary: "This is certainly a futile suggestion, but President Donald Trump should really watch Mark Jonathan Harris and Oles Sanin's documentary about the recent strife in Ukraine."
The film will be screened in the theaters of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other cities.
The “Breaking Point: The War for Democracy in Ukraine" shows the war and the revolution in Ukraine through the eyes of ordinary people, participants in these events. The film covers the period of 2013-2016.
