Almost half a million Ukrainians have already taken advantage of visa-free travel to Europe

Almost 500,000 Ukrainian citizens have already taken advantage of visa-free travel to the countries of the European Union.

"The world has noticed and appreciated the changes in Ukraine. This is proved by the launch of a visa-free travel, which almost 500,000 Ukrainian citizens have already taken advantage of," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko posted on Twitter.

The President assures the visa-free travel will not be cancelled.

"Do not listen to those who are trying to croak the suspension of visa-free travel as those ‘forecasters’ earlier said Ukraine would not be granted it," Poroshenko added.

On 11 June 2017, the decision of the Council of the European Union to introduce a visa-free regime for short trips of Ukrainian citizens to 30 countries of the European Union and the Schengen zone came into force.

A visa-free regime allows Ukrainians who have a biometric passport of a citizen of Ukraine to stay and freely travel across Europe for no more than 90 days during any 180-day period.
