Ukraine to protect Crimean residents at UN Human Rights Council - Poroshenko

A priority in Ukraine's three-year membership of the UN Human Rights Council will be the protection of human rights around the world, including in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbas.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote this on Twitter.

"Having completed the mission of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, today Ukraine has begun a three-year membership of the UN Human Rights Council. Protecting human rights around the world, including in the temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbas, is our priority!" Poroshenko said.

On October 16, 2017, Ukraine was elected a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2018-2020.
