U.S. urges Russia to calm its proxies in Donbas

The United States has called on Russia to order a group of its proxies to comply with the ceasefire regime in eastern Ukraine, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has reported on Twitter.

"We received reports that a Ukrainian medic was killed while trying to aid civilians near the contact line, reminding us that the conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to rage on. U.S. calls on Russia to order its proxy forces to implement a complete ceasefire," the embassy wrote, citing Department of State Spokesperson Heather Nauert.

As reported, on February 21, pro-Russian militants fired at Ukrainian soldiers who provided medical assistance to civilians in Donbas. Nurse Sabina Halytska was killed. She will be buried in the village of Bastova Rudnya, Yemilchyne district of Zhytomyr region on February 23.
